Uh, yes ;) Really haven't found a way yet to debug the opening phase of an fbdev driver. After switching screens, and i suppose not yet having loaded vtswtch, it was the first time i was glad to have an acpi machine, allowing to gracefully power down by pushing the button. When doing as suggested, however (compiling modded directfb) lots of errors are now generated by directfb about unexpected pixelformats. As i could only test with broken nvidia driver, i don't know yet, whether this is the gfxdriver or really the interface. Directfb drivers really speed things up, but are a PITA. Thanks, that you've taken up on it, i couldn't have done in that time. Now Debian build daemons haven't yet made libgii on all archs, giving a delay for ggi anyway, so i can look after that pixformat issue ... martin
