Hello everyone!

Well, here we are, another month and another handful of bugs later but
at long last I have good news to report: I just finished a set of builds
on our tier 1 platforms and it seems that things are finally in
reasonably good shape.

I put the finishing touches on the tree today and will try to cut a
source tarball for 8.0.2-rc1 tomorrow. Here's to hoping that things go
more smoothly from here on out. As usual, I'd like to plan on a
seven-day window between the source release and final release
announcement. However, let me know if this will be too onerous and we
can discuss other options.

Cheers,

 - Ben
