 Your implication is that it should be possible to put it in a specified
 directory... but which one?   Maybe the one containing the source file?
 Or another flag?

 It certainly sounds reasonable in principle.  By all means work out the
 design, propose it on `ghc-users`, and offer a patch (or encourage someone
 else to).  Shouldn't be hard.  Thanks
