I think there is a way, since "now" is a long long int and I am currently playing with a real-time synchronisation library/package using C and POSIX functions. I'm not sure that my method will go down to the delta cycles but it sure helps, working with only VHPIDIRECT. The code is simple but a bit complex to figure out.
