A quick update : to reproduce this with the stock GHDL distribution, comment out
the last line of vhdl/config-lang.in (gtfiles= ...ortho-lang.c)
This removes configure's dependency on faulty source files.

Then build gcc as normal (WITHOUT VHDL support) and it falls over as above
(here). If anyone can shed some light on this, I would be grateful.
