GHDL now has a second home... https://sourceforge.net/projects/ghdl-updates/
What's there today is a start : a release candidate for ghdl_0.31, working with gcc4.8.2. It has also been built and tested as an mcode version on Mac and Linux. The Files section contains a source package for ghdl_0.31dev, and we intend to make binary builds and packages for Linux, Mac and other OS available there too. What's there includes a Wiki, allowing us to collaborate on smoothing out the build and installation process, and share tutorial and example designs and techniques. There's also a Mercurial repository, incorporating the past Subversion history and some new work to build ghdl with gcc 4.8.2, and a start on clearing the backlog of support issues and bugs. The source package is taken from the revision tagged "ghdl_0.31dev" but work won't stop there, if you need the latest version, check out the "tip" instead. We also have a start on bug tracking; intended for bugs reported against this and future versions. A couple of questions deserve answers: 1) What happened to ghdl version 0.30? It was going to be based around gcc4.7. There were a few builds and packages but no official release. To avoid possible confusion with those, this release will be called 0.31. 2) What happened to gna.org/ghdl? It's still there! gna.org has served ghdl well, and may yet continue to do so. But development there is critically dependent on Tristan, who is busy elsewhere. Meanwhile there's a lot to do, to keep ghdl relevant, accessible and up to date. I want ghdl-updates to provide a venue for people to collaborate on ghdl more easily, as well as a source of stable ghdl builds on which distributions can base their ghdl packages. I hope Tristan can find time to rejoin the project; he has an open offer to join ghdl-updates as well as any support we can provide in keeping gna.org up to date. 3) What next? We're looking for brave people to build, install, test and use this version, to build confidence and resolve any odd issues we haven't yet encountered. So reports of success or failure (but especially success) are welcome! And volunteers to help with ghdl-updates would be welcome too.
