I have been noodling about the possibility of extending a waveform viewer (i.e. GTKwave) to allow one to create test bench code by (double-?)clicking on the waveforms to create transitions, dragging to move edges, etc. etc. I'd been imagining that it would add/remove/modifty code in the thing_tb.vhd file, and you'd have a button to re-run the simulation. But that's about as far as my thinking has gone so far.
