My point was that the original question was specifically about a
segfault while building the mcode version for 64 bits.

Which won't work.

Today, the gcc version is the way to go, or experiment with the LLVM
version. I didn't know LLVM had JIT capabilities : that does make it
interesting as a replacement for mcode!
