Therefore the questions:
 1. any idea why this coverage support fails (and all else works) ?
 2. what is the recommended way to have multiple ghdl versions ?

I am not sure the non-working coverage is due to multiple versions.
I suppose this is due to the fact that the -lgcov comes from the system gcc,
which is not 4.9.x. Can you confirm or infirm this
hypothesis ?

Dear Tristan,

ooops, good point. I tried on two systems

  Debian 7:          gcc -v --> gcc version 4.7.2 (Debian 4.7.2-5)
  Ubuntu 14.04 LTS gcc -v --> gcc version 4.8.4 (Ubuntu
4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04.3)

so once 4.7.x and once 4.8.x, and both != 4.9.x. Will have to
think about the way the ghdl models are build.

Nevertheless, even more amazing that success and failure depends
on having some symlinks in between, or not.

        Thanks for the hint,   Walter
