Hello everybody. I've been contacted by Pascal Rullier (in Cc), an organizer of the Libre Software Meeting / Rencontres Mondiales du Logiciel Libre. The 2014 edition will take place in Montpellier (southern France) from July 5 to July 11 2014, and Pascal has kindly offered to host the 2014 GNU Hackers Meeting as well at the same event.
We should discuss the exact modalities with him, but he told me they have a large 800-seat dedicated amphitheater, with video recording facilities. In my opinion having such a huge place (if reasonably filled) may blur the event into something different and more "vertical" than we're used to, but it might be worth a shot. Or maybe we could try asking for a smaller room for our technical meeting but also do some talks for the public in a big room, in a way separating the public outreach part. Of course we can still have the GHM open to the public as well, but I'm a little hesitant about saying that a program such as ours at http://www.gnu.org/ghm/2013/paris/ can attract 800 people within a larger conference. Or maybe I'm just unnecessarily prudent. What do you think? In any case, let me thank Pascal again. We don't receive offers such as his every day. -- Luca Saiu Home page: http://ageinghacker.net GNU epsilon: http://www.gnu.org/software/epsilon Marionnet: http://marionnet.org
