GNU Hackers Meeting Update ========================== It is less than a week to go until GHM 2014. The response so far has been outstanding and registrations reached the capacity of the auditorium. So unfortunately no new registrations can be accepted.
Formalities (let's get these out of the way first) ----------- 1. Views expressed at GHM 2014 are the opinions of the speakers. They do not necessarily represent the views of the GNU Project or the Free Software Foundation. 2. An anti-harrasment policy applies at GHM: http://gnu.org/ghm/policy.html Keysigning ---------- The keylist has been finalised and published. If you have elected to take part, please: * download the list from http://gnu.org/ghm/2014/ghm-key-list.txt * print it. * calculate the M5sum and the SHA1 and write it on the printed list. * bring the list with you. Spare copies will not be available at the meeting. Food ---- Some gallant volunteers have arranged for some fine meals to be available at lunch time and in the afternoon breaks. Drinks will also be available. Donation to cover costs will be gratefully received. Speakers -------- If you are speaking, please check the time of your presentation in the programme. http://gnu.org/ghm/upcoming.html Local Transport --------------- Most people are staying in the nearby town of Garching, which is one stop on the U6 away from TUM (Garching Forschungszentrum). It is probably most economical to buy a "strip card" ticket (Streifenkarte) for the weekend. This must be "validated" before each journey. You can share one with a friend. If you are traveling from Munich city to Garching via the U6 line (this will be the case if you are arriving in Munich by train), there is unfortunately bridge works this week which will affect you. The trains are still running, but there is a section where replacement buses are in operation. To find the buses, look for signs in the shape of a purple hexagon with the letters SEV. Like this one here: http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/fileadmin/media/Dateien/5_Aktuelles/sev-signet-100x95.png You should allow a little longer for your journey. If you are arriving at Munich Airport, then your best option is to take the S-Bahn line S8 to Ismanning and then bus number 230 to Garching. Please note that Friday 15 August is a public holiday in Bavaria and the public transport will be running to a Sunday timetable. If you get hopelessly lost or run into difficulties, please telephone 01514 0336849 and somebody will try to help you out. Social Activities ----------------- As well as the regular beer swilling, a number of social activities have been hacked together ^H^H^H^H^H^H organised. Please check the page at http://gnu.org/ghm/2014/social.html
