Thank you, I tried the same on a 64-bit windows and it works flawlessly. What 
got me confused is that the process explorer showed the process only using 
400Mb and some, which is far away from the 2GB limit. But probably there was a 
big "new" ahead which failed.

The other question still pertains, but I'll ask it in a new email with a better 
fitting subject line, so others may search for it easier.
