2 long weekends this month (The Philippine Star) Updated August 19, 2009 12:00 AM
MANILA, Philippines - Two long weekends are in store for the country’s workforce with two more non-working holidays this month. Friday, Aug. 21, is a special non-working holiday to commemorate the assassination of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. The next holiday is on Aug. 31, a Monday, for the celebration of National Heroes Day. Republic Act 9492 rationalized the country’s holidays and requires the President to issue a proclamation outlining all of the holidays for the year. The law moves most holidays that fall between Tuesday and Thursday to either Monday or Friday, to allow workers to have more quality time with their families on longer weekends. Aug. 5 this year was declared a special non-working holiday for the burial of former President Corazon Aquino. – *Marvin Sy* -- spanx' blog: http://spankyenriquez.blogspot.com/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gimik" group.
