Hi, just a humble user here. I often process multiple images in a single session as I am restoring old photographs. When my work is done I export the image as a tiff file. At the end of the session when I select close all I get the message that I have unsaved changes. A quick look at the list shows all the images are exported. So I discard changes and allow the program to close down. Now it is important to realise that save in GIMP means it will save a xcf file which I view as a work in process file similar to a PSD in PhotoShop. You really want to export and not save your work unless you intend to return to the file as the work is not completed. I personally would not want to be clogging my computer storage up by saving a xcf file for all the images upon closing the software down. I am unsure if the original poster of this message has confused the function of export to create a new Tiff or JPG file of the edited image with a save function that can not save a Tiff or JPG but only a xcf file.
