I don't know that i'd cal itGIMP's version of... GIMP isn't trying to be PhotoShop. Having said that... are you running GIMP 2.10.12? On what platform? What are the image modes and precision (e.g. 8bit RGB, 32-bit floating point greyscale, indexed, etc)? If you undo the paste and then redo does it work correctly the second time?
