Hi Matthew. In the old days Chrome OS was its own platform, but from what i see now they have the option to turn on Linux in settings. If you dont have the option to turn on Linux you wont be able to do it. There are actually many tutorials out there to replace the Chrome OS with Linux, that's a lot more complicated. I hope you have the Linux option, because then you could install a lot more Linux apps. The way I learned about Unix or Linux then, was when Macs changed over to Unix based, and then they had the command mode and I went on from there. Let us know if it works.
