I've heard about something called a "heliogram" or "heliograph" effect, which is said to make images stand up better to reproduction in newsprint. I do a great deal of advertising in a GIMP-Inkscape-Scribus workflow (on Win2K, unhappily) which mostly appears in newsprint publications in color. Is there some kind of filter or script which can be used in GIMP to optimize pictures for this? Thanks!
