I deleted the alpha channel from a layer with a mask. The mask was still evident, and still functioned. I then saved the image, and exited.
Reloading the image, I am told gimp cannot load a mask for a layer without an alpha channel, and the mask is not visible. Since it was a lot of work to generate this mask (removing the background from a photo), I would like to recover it.
