Please update to a newer version then, before anything else. If you are using Ubuntu 7.10, simply installing the gimp package will get you GIMP 2.4rc3. About the Print dialog. This dialog is platform specific and almost all of it predefined by GTK+. If you want to discuss changes to the Print dialog, please talk to the GTK+ developers.
