Hello,

in our little gimp-community a user asked for help because he can open
only 6 out of 10 pictures with Gimp.

An example picture - taken with his camera: an Olympus E-10:

The error-message with Gimp-2.4.2 on Ubuntu-7.10

/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/jpeg:
fatal error: Segmentation fault

The error message with a self-compiled Gimp-2.5 development snapshot
version on Ubuntu-7.10

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ /opt/gimp-2.5/bin/gimp-2.5
This is a development version of GIMP. Debug messages may appear here.

The whole thread (beginning with post #6 from X_FISH) in german:

http://www.gimp-werkstatt.de/Forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1151&start=0

Is this similar to this bug:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466044

or something new?

Deleting the exif-data seems the only way to open this picture with Gimp.
Maybe someone with the needed know-how has time to examine this behavior.
Many thanks in advance.

Andreas
