I do this and it works every time: >From the GIMP command bar: Click "File > Save As..." In the "Save Image" window: Click the box marked "Select File Type (By Extension)" In the dropdown window scroll to the btottom and click on "TIFF image tif,tiff". Click "Save" In my GIMP there are 2 lines starting with "TIFF image". The second does not have the "Extensions" shown, and gives an error message. Always select the one showing the extensions.
