Hi Monika, I haven't experienced a loss in quality with scaling photos smaller; as you mentioned, loss of quality will occur with enlargements.
Are you scaling before you crop the photos? How are you scaling (I scale with Image->Scale Image). What are your original & target sizes? Regards, Erik.
