pdl comes with it's own version of ppport.h, so I guess Mandrake 7 does not
_really_ come with a functional PDL module ... :)

Most probably a bug in Mandrake. You could check by downloading a copy of
the PDL module from www.cpan.org, and building it yourself (_after_ having
remove the old version).
