Yes, if they are named consecutively you can use the GAP plug-in
(Image->Video).

However, I really recommend using ImageMagick instead, since the assembling
simply becomes

$ convert -delay 5 path/*.gif animation.gif

You can then, of course, load the nimation into gimp for more interactive
adjustments (while it's possible to set the delay and other parameters
seperately for each frame with "convert", it's much easier with gimp in
most cases).
