I recently upgraded my version of the Gimp to 1.1.24 (from the Helix Gnome
site) and lost the ability to add text to my images. The text tool seems to
find the fonts OK, but when I type my text and hit OK, I get something like:

Font '-bitstream-courier-medium-r-normal-*-*-420-1-1-m-*-iso8859-1' not
found.

If I type xset -q, I get:

This looks OK. I see my font directories in the font path. The fonts.dir
file in my Type1 directory says:

Again, this looks OK. What is going on here? The Gimp worked until I
upgraded. What do I have to change with the upgrade to re-enable the fonts?
