On Alexander's suggrstion, I put a notice on the registry site that a
solution will take some more time.

In this regard, I have one idea: Re-use software from the ROS community.

In contrast to the registry, that site is completely static, and is
generated automatically. It is generated from metadata (a simple xml file)
that the packages authors add to their source code repositories. The format
is described at
http://www.ros.org/reps/rep-0127.html

Let me know if you'd interested in that option. As you may know, my main
field of work is robotics, so I know that stuff well.
