Avery Ching commented on GIRAPH-65:

This is a very useful idea to help folks do quick, ad-hoc stuff. As a related
note, you'll need a bunch of standard vertex input/output formats to help folks
get started. It'll be interesting to see what you use for the serialization
across languages (thrift, avro, protocol buffers, etc.).
> Using an executable/script to compute on vertexes communicating through
> standard input/output (aka Giraph Streaming)

> Key: GIRAPH-65
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GIRAPH-65
> Project: Giraph
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Reporter: Gianmarco De Francisci Morales
> Priority: Minor
> A feature similar to Hadoop Streaming, where a general executable/script can
> be plugged in the MapReduce framework.
> This would allow to perform quick queries on the graph using Python or other
> scripting languages.
> For Giraph, the executable/script would replace the Vertex.compute() method.
