Well thank you for this very good explanation.
I wanted to use the "git log" with --pretty option to extract specific
commit messages and parse the result. "git show" talks too much for
me.
Well I did read the manual together with another collegue over and
over, have to say from the manuals - especially this one:
http://linux.die.net/man/1/git-log
its not ad-hoc clear how to use the command.
But I think now I've got it.
