Can you do the following: * Uninstall TortoiseGit * Uninstall Git * Re-install the latest released version (1.7.11) of Git from http://git-scm.com/download/win The above download points to the same one you get at http://msysgit.github.com/ - Git for Windows. Try to re-create the problem using this vanilla install of Git for WIndows, preferably using the Git Bash window like this (with the correct repo url): git clone ssh://serverstring If the problem goes away, it could be a problem in TortoiseGit, and you should report the error to that project.
