The exclude stuff and the corrupt index file definitely should not happen. So I reckon your Git environment is faulty. I don't know much about the CygWin Git, but the popular opinion is that msysgit is the way to go on Windows<http://stackoverflow.com/questions/783906/git-under-windows-msys-or-cygwin> . --
