hi carsten,

we have a unix - linux - windows 7 environment, and we never needed
.gitattributes. but, i used to get the error message regularly when the
text files contain crlf line endings and use core.autocrlf = input. just
convert the relevant file to unix line endings and the warning is gone,
e.g. by using "dos2unix filename". otherwise you might consider to set an
option to store files as is in the repository, without conversion
(core.autocrlf = false). we tried this as well - but quickly switched back
as we got too many unnecessary merge conflicts.
