By the way, if you do not want to run gitk or a not able to do so,
a great way to visualize the history is

git log --graph --oneline --decorate


git log --graph --oneline --decorate --all

(I have the latter aliased to `git overview`).

The output looks especially spiffy if you have colors enabled
(by setting the color.ui configuration variable to "auto", for instance).
