He might be talking about the PDF version of the Git book in French: 
http://git-scm.com/book/fr - unfortunately, there is no readily compiled 
PDF/mobi/epub in French ready for download, only English. 

I had a go at generating the PDF myself a couple of months back, but had to 
give up due to difficulty with fonts and stuff in the rendering, was just 
eating up too much time. I would recommend you give it another go, and then 
report an issue in the issue tracker for the French book when you can't get 
any further:
