Hi Ryan, >From my experience, the fastest way to install Git is installing Xcode from the MAS. However, the best way to install it and keep it with the latest updates and don't depend on Apple on this, will be the way mentioned by Kfir: currently, the version packed with Xcode is 1.8.5.2, and the one from Homebrew is 1.9.2.
