[1] might give you a clear understanding of how vanilla Git and Git for Windows relate, and why they have different schedules. The things got more complicated since then as the folks working on GfW decided to concentrate on reworking msysgit (the environment used to develop GfW) to make it more modular and easy to use for those alre ady familiar with MinGW/MSYS; more details at [2]. Note that the GfW project is severely undermanned (not withstanding the fact the GfW installer binary sustains several hundred downloads per day) so there's absolutely no reason to go bitching about the delay on their support forums -- they do whatever they are able to with the resources at hand. In the meantime, you can read the wiki at [3] and build GfW 2.x yourself. 1. https://groups.google.com/d/msg/git-users/lN2HkkYzYPA/-UJJtoBc-NIJ 2. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/msysgit/xmAOOAZ9ing 3. https://msysgit.github.io -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Git for human beings" group.
