If you go direct to Github (web page) are you logged in? If so you ate least could try to see if your browser has the credential/password saved, or use the 'reset password' options from github.
Also check what authentication method you have got set up, in case it is expecting more that the simple password. Check for Caps Lock, funny characters and other terminal setting issues, just in case.
