No worries at all, thanks that you take time to look into that > Git has the concept of credential "helpers" which can also cache the (valid) > credentials. > I think, GfW has the so-called Git Credentials Manager (GCM) [1] as the > default credential helper since v2.29. > A no-brainer way to make Git use no credential helper is to explicitly turn it > off, if any: > git -c credential.helper="" command [arguments] > See the "gitcredentials" manual page (run `git help credentials). Right, I tried for example git configure --global credential.helper= cache And it not help, however git configure --global credential.helper="" Really solved the problem. It seems to me that the credential helper system might be helpful for a single user szenario. But PC running Windows and only have one user for all students will inevitably run into problems. So that looks a bit over engineered to me. Well since it costed me a week and the help of others to figure out... Matlab should add this to their Manual, but this is a different story. > [1] http://microsoft.github.io/Git-Credential-Manager-for-Windows/ > [2] https://groups.google.com/g/git-for-windows/ Thanks, right now I am back to business or better said the students. The git support in matlab is rather limited, so I hope that the students will not be forced to merge branches a lot.
