@mwashburn2 I expect the final merged improvement will be some revision of the approach on this PR. It just missed inclusion into v6.4.0 due to time constraints and is targeted for v6.5.0. I expect it will need a heavy round of multi-threaded testing (especially at the bounds) to make sure nothing is missed. This one is not as risky as the ProducerAudit fix, as there should not be any message loss risk due to this change. A number of the thread contention issues were included in the last 5.19.x, so I encourage you to look at those.
