Yeah, I guess the programming language model of symbol types is being somewhat 
stretched here, but hey programming languages don't have free text  in them 
either :)

Sounds like a plan.

`highlighting_is_string_style()` does not currently have a latex section, so 
nothing should be relying on its behaviour, and so changing it should not break 
stuff.
