I can reproduce high CPU usage of Geany if I set `/bin/true` instead of `/bin/bash` inside the Shell settings as Geany keeps restarting the shell command when it terminates. I suspect that either the shell keeps crashing because of some locale problem or that there's some wrong command inside the Shell settings in your case.
