I will be running with this change to see whether it breaks anything for me.

For now, I briefly tried it out with some of my project-related workflows 
(opening a project from the command line and from the GUI, changing build 
commands, opening another project, etc.), on Linux GTK+2 and GTK+3. Nothing 
unexpected so far.

Also I agree with 
[this](https://github.com/geany/geany/pull/1400#issuecomment-281097024):

I don’t use File Browser, but I do use TreeBrowser, which had the same behavior 
until @techee [fixed it](https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins/pull/536), and 
it was very annoying.
