To all posters, your frustration is understood, but before anyone can do something about it somebody needs to provide a solution to HOW to do it. As I noted above, the programming language Geany uses is specified to use the environment variables to set language and other locale data. The methods proposed (script or commands) are the only methods known to set those variables before running Geany.
