The solution was include this line in my environmental variable PATH. C:\Program Files (x86)\mingw-w64\i686-8.1.0-posix-dwarf-rt_v6-rev0\mingw32\bin This is the path to my c compiler. Did not have this issue when I installed Geany on my Window7 laptop.
