It wasn't meant to be heated, just badly misunderstood behaviour by
different systems, and neither of us having the same system ;-), and Cinnamon
and XFCE behave different so we have misunderstandings, so we had to get
ourselves having a suitable understanding. Cinnamon just needs wider CSS entry
so users can resize the sidebar, but I still don't know why XFCE
doesn't?

> So https://github.com/geany/geany/pull/4023 is a good countermeasure to
just help users to get the panes back easily, even if it is not Geany's
fault.

As I said above "Perhaps you could make
https://github.com/geany/geany/pull/4023 closer to Vscode as you suggested, it
not do resize if it hides, that would be useful for the user instead of trying
to get a width again after its unhidden."

Just the first solution in a PR doesn't have to be the best one until we
finish discussions.
