I also cannot reproduce this on Debian Testing with Xfce 4.20 and Geany from GIT master. Neither with workspace switching using Ctrl-F1, -F2, ... nor with Ctrl-Alt-Cursor keys.
I'm using this setup day by day since years and never experienced a missing cursor.
