Hi all.

I don't often use vertical selection (from Geany additions, I believe) but now
I need to, there's something that really bothers me and it's my incapability fo
find the pattern and what to fix. I'm not even sure how to describe what I
experience accurately enough so bear with me.

Usually when I click with the mouse on a term _while the Ctrl key is pressed_,
the editor jumps to the symbol definition, switching files along the way if
necessary. I've used that quite a lot and it's very useful to me.

But now that I need to use vertical selection, that feature comes in my way as
I have never been able to figure out how to *NOT* press the Ctrl key for
vertical selection. Everytime I do that and a symbol can be found in other
files that are currently opened, the cursor jumps instead of acknowledging the
vertical selection I want to make.

I've browsed the preference dialogue, both Geany's and Geany Plugins' and could
find nowhere to disable or change the effects of (left) clicking (FTR I use
_double tap_ for a left click but it makes no difference vs actual left click).
Any attempt to set keyboard shortcuts doesn't get rid of the fact that a left
click on a symbol causes a jump. Trouble is vertical selection seems to be only
started from a piece of text... and that text most of the time happens to be a
symbol.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I accept that, I cannot for the life of me
find anything that would solve that for good. So far, my only choice is to
close any document where a symbol could exist in order for Geany to not jump
whenever I start a vertical selection but that's really annoying.

How do you guys configure vertical selection with symbol jump together with
mouse clicks, especially when you're on a laptop? Where is that "Left click +
Ctrl" defined? Is it configurable? Or is there something else that I missed?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestion.
