I'm absolutely not familiar with fonts.

It seems to me although these are listed as different fonts, that this is one 
font and the different styles (weight, italic) are handled via seperate fonts.

In Geany, we basically pass the selected font name to Scintilla which renders 
the editor widget.

I tried MousePad which shows the chosen font as expected and I tried Scite 
(`font.base=font:IBM Plex Mono Light Italic,size:12`) which seems to show only 
the base font like Geany.
Maybe @nyamatongwe has an idea?
