I think it's not the best solution, because although it allows an easy "fix" 
(restarting Geany), the dialog will still be lost if unplugging the monitor 
during a session.

Ideally Windows would not let us move windows offscreen at random, but if it 
does we probably should rather try and not ask for it.

My question might be: should be limit this to configurations we know are 
problematic (e.g. Windows), and leave others do their thing which might be 
dependent on the platform/WM/user configuration?  I'd think we should rather 
not do anything *if the window doesn't get lost* because we probably can't do 
better than the WM, but can we really know whether it'll get lost in any given 
configuration or not?
