It's configurable so presumable users with large blocks could always configure it larger. This change is simple enough and I don't *think* this would have much impact on performance but it would be nice if we had some kind of JSONL benchmark. I do like Wes' idea of handling large blobs without requiring reconfiguration of the default block size.
