After some informal chatter about a 'nanoarrow' R package, I thought I would formalize the proposal as a PR. The existing prototype 'narrow' package ( https://github.com/paleolimbot/narrow ) has a similar scope but was built at a time when a 'nanoarrow' C library did not exist. While the minimal useful bindings for the Arrow C Data interface have a slightly wider scope in R than they do in C, I think this repository is a good home for this. The exact scope and implementation of an R package exposing any part of the 'nanoarrow' C library should, of course, be discussed and developed in issues in this repository. This PR merely proposes the 'r/' subdirectory as a home for such a package and 'nanoarrow' as the name of the package. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
